- * Pronuniation: /t/ ,/d/ and /id/. How do we pronounce the -ed endings? We pronounce -ed: /Id/ after sounds /d/ and /t/ /t/ after unvoiced consonants /p/, /k/, /f/, /s/, /ʃ/,/tʃ/ /d/ after voiced consonants, vowels /m/,/n/,/i/, /e/

- -ing/-ed adjectives: Ex 1: He is an interesting boy. I’m interested in talking to him Ex 2 : I’m bored with the film. It’s boring When do we use ing/ed adjectives? We use -ing adjectives to describe people or things. (Tính từ đuôi -ING dùng để miêu tả tính cách, tính chất, đặc điểm của người, sự vật, hiện tượng.) We use -ed adjectives to talk about our feeling. (Tính từ đuôi -ED dùng để diễn tả cảm xúc, cảm nhận của con người, con vật về một sự vật, hiện tượng, sự việc nào đó.)

- Grammar Although / despite / in spite of (các liên từ nối) Use : We use although/ despite/ in spite of to express contrast between two pieces of information in the same sentence. We use although before a clause and despite/ in spite of before a noun or noun phrase Main clause + although + S + V + Main clause + despite/ in spite of + a noun or noun phrase.
- Example: He is so young, he performs excellently. - Although he is so young, he performs excellently. - Despite/ in spite of being so young, he performs excellently. - Despite/ in spite of his young age, he performs excellently
- Complete the sentences. Use although + a clause from the box. (Ex. 1/p. 19) a. they spent a lot of money b. few people came to see it c. it was a comedy d. it is set in modern time e. the acting is excellent 1. We enjoyed the film at the Ngoc Khanh cinema, although few people came to see it. 2 ,Although they spent a lot of money, it wasn’t a big success. 3 Although the acting is excellent, I don’t enjoy the film. 4. - Complete the sentences, using although, despite/ in spite of. Sometimes, two answers are possible. (Ex. 2/p. 19) 1. Although the story of the film was good, I didn’t like the acting. 2. I went to see the film despite / in spite of feeling really tired. 3. I really enjoyed the Water War although most of my friends said it wasn’t a very good film 4. Despite /In spite of careful preparation, they had a lot of difficulties in making a film. 5. theAlthough film is gripping, Tom slept from beginning to end.
- 1. Rewrite sentences using the words in the brackets. Change other words in the sentence if necessary. (Ex. 3/p.30) 1. I don’t think Stallone is a very good actor. He has performed excellently in many films. He has never won an Oscar for Best Actor. ( Although) → Although he has performed excellently in many films, he has never won an Oscar for Best Actor. 5. The film begins with a terrible disaster. It has a happy ending . (in spite of) → In spite of beginning with a terrible disaster, the film has a happy ending .
