3. 1. Although/ despite/ in spite of a. Uses : We use although/ despite/ in spite of to express contrast between two pieces of information in the same sentence. We use although before a clause and despite/ in spite of before a noun or noun phrase. b. Forms MAIN CLAUSE + ALTHOUGH + S + V + MAIN CLAUSE + DESPITE / INSPITE OF + NOUN / N. PHRASE/ V_ing
4. 2. However / Nevertheless e.g. He is so young. However, / Nevertheless, he performs excellently. a. Use: We also use however and nevertheless to express contrast between two sentences.We usually use comma (,) after them. b. Form: S + Verb + .However, + S + Verb Nevertheless,
5. Ex1.Complete the sentences. The film begins with a terrible disaster. It has a happy ending . (in spite of) → In spite of beginning with a terrible disaster, the film has a happy ending .

The film didn’t receive good reviews from critics ,However, / Nevertheless many people went to see it. 2. Despite / In spite of the silly story, many people enjoyed the film. 3.
