According to reports, the historical congestion record was set on June 1, 2012, with 295 kilometres of vehicle queues around the city during the evening rush hour. Some other big cities also suffer from serious congestion in the rush hour. The main cause of this traffic problem is the increase of the population in big cities. 9. Suggested writing: Nowadays, traffic jam is one of the biggest problems that many cities in Vietnam concern about. Among them, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh cities have the most serious traffic problems of all. Firstly, the increase of the population in big cities is the main cause of this traffic problem. Therefore, in the rush hours, there are too many vehicles on the road because people tend to use their own motorbikes or private cars instead of using public transport like buses or electric trains. Secondly, the road system in Vietnam are narrow, bumpy. Some roads are under bad condition. They are easily flooded after heavy rains or become wet and very slippery. The last but not least, Vietnamese people do not usually respect and don’t obey the traffic rules. Some don’t wear helmets when riding. Some drive/ride too fast and carelessly. Some even drive/ride after drinking alcohol. That is the reason why there are many traffic accidents every day.
