  2. I. SPEAK: This is how to give and respond to compliments: Give a compliment Well done. That’s a great/an excellent . Let me congratulate you on . Respond to a compliment Thanks. It’s nice of you to say so. That’s very kind of you.
  3. Read the following situations with a partner, then give and respond to appropriate compliments. a) Trang has just won the first prize in the English speaking contest. Example: Mai: Well done, Trang. Trang: Thanks.
  4. b) On her mother’s birthday , Huyen made a beautiful cake to celebrate. Mother: ___Well done, Huyen Huyen: ___Thanks, Mom
  5. c)Tuan is an active student. He has taken part in different charity activities in his town. Tuan has been nominated as the most effective activist in the town charity program. Friends: ___Congratulations on ___your nomination, Tuan Tuan: ___It’s nice of you to say so
  6. d) Hoa brings to class a new picture she has painted. You: ___That’s a great picture Hoa: ___It’s nice of you to say so
  7. Now think of situations in which you can compliment your friends and get responses from him/her/hem, then make up dialogues with your partner. - Ba: Congratulations on the first prize. - Lan: It’s nice of you to say so.
