Nội dung text: Bài giảng Tiếng Anh Lớp 7 - Unit 10: Sources of energy - Period 88, Lesson 5: Skills 1

  1. What are the main sources of energy in Viet Nam? What types of energy sources will be used in the future?
  2. Renewable and non-renewable energy. Professor Galton
  3. 1. CREATE A. MACHINERY 2. DRIVE B. TURBINES C. ALTERNATIVE 3. GENERATE / ENERGY CONVERT INTO D. HOUSES 4. TURN E. ELECTRICITY 5. HEAT
  4. nuclear wind solar coal biogas oil natural gas hydro
  5. Dear guests, I’d like to talk to you today about renewable and non- renewable energy. Fossil fuels are non-renewable energy sources. They include oil, coal, and natural gas. They can be used to create energy, generate electricity, or drive big machinery. Unfortunately, they are harmful to the environment. Viet Nam still relies mostly on non-renewable energy sources, however, hydro power is increasingly used here too. Hydro and nuclear power can generate a great deal of energy. They are renewable and plentiful. However, hydro power is limited because dams cannot be built in certain areas. Nuclear power can provide enough electricity for the world’s needs, but it is dangerous. The sun and the wind are other alternative sources of energy. The wind turns turbines to make electricity. Solar power can be converted into electricity. It can be used to heat or cool our houses. Although there are some disadvantages, these alternative energy sources can offer abundant amounts of clean, safe electricity. They will be valued more and more in the future in Viet Nam.

  8. Answer the questions: 1. How many types of energy sources are mentioned in the text? What are they? 2. What are the disadvantages of hydro and nuclear power? 3. Why do you think the wind and the sun are called alternative sources of energy? 4.What types of energy does Vienam use most? 5. What does the professor think Vietnam will use more in the future?
  9. What is your favourite source of energy?
  10. How many types of energy sources are mentioned in the text? What are they? Two, they are renewable and non-renewable.
  11. What are the disadvantages of hydro and nuclear power? Hydro power is limited because dams cannot be built in certain areas. Nuclear power is dangerous.
  12. Why do you think the wind and the sun are called alternative sources of energy? Because they are natural sources of power and we use them instead of non-renewable sources to get electricity we need.
  13. nuclear wind solar coal biogas oil natural gas hydro
  14. What does the professor think Vietnam will use more in the future? He thinks Vietnam will use the wind and the sun as alternative sources of energy in the future.
  15. What types of energy does Vietnam use most? We use non-renewable sources of energy the most but we are increasingly using hydro power.
  16. Sources of Types of Advantage(s) Disadvantage(s) energy energy create energy, generate oil/ coal/ harmful to the electricity, and drive non - renewable environment natural gas machinery hydro nuclear solar wind
  17. Sources of Types of Advantage(s) Disadvantage(s) energy energy create energy, oil/ coal/ harmful to the non-renewable generate electricity, and natural gas environment drive machinery limited /dams cannot be hydro renewable built in certain areas. generate a great deal nuclear renewable of energy/ plentiful dangerous convert into electricity, not available solar renewable heat or coal the houses/ abundant, clean, safe make electricity/ wind renewable not available abundant, clean, safe
  18. Let’s talk!!! What is its advantage? What type is it? What is its disadvantages? Sources of energy
  19. Ask and answer about advantages and disadvantages of energy sources. A: What type of energy is oil? B: It is non-renewable source of energy, because it can not easily be replaced. A: What are its advantages and disadvantages? B: It can be used to power machinery, but it also pollutes the environment.

  22. A: What type of energy is oil? B: It is non-renewable source of energy, because it can not easily be replaced. A: What are its advantages and disadvantages? B: It can be used to power machinery, but it also pollutes the environment. Oil is a non-renewable source of energy because it can not easily be replaced. It can be used to power machinery, but it also pollutes the environment .
  23. Hydro power is a renewable source of energy because it comes from water. It is cheap and plentiful. Unfortunately, dams can only be built in certain areas.
  24. Homework 1. Learn by heart the new words. 2. Do the exercises of unit 10 in the workbook. 3. Write a short passage about the advantages and disadvantages of each type of energy sources.
