- ĐH Secondary School (School year: 2019 – 2020) English 9 Week: 03 Period: 05 LESSON PLAN Unit 1 : A VISIT FROM A PEN PAL Part: Write I. OBJECTIVES: 1. Knowledge, skills, attitude: -Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to write a personal letter. - Skills: Focus on speaking, reading, listening and writing skills. - Attitude: Getting and writing a personal letter. 2. Students’ abilities achievement: Communicative ability, co-operative ability, problem solving and creation ability, self-study ability. II. PREPARATIONS: - Teacher: Pictures, cassette player, posters, chalks. - Students: Books, Textbooks, pens, rulers. III. HOLDING STUDENTS’ ACTIVITIES: 1.Leading into the new lesson: (5 minutes) Teacher asks students to remind the format of a personal letter by answering the questions. 1. How many parts are there in a personal letter ? 2. What are they ? 3. What information are there in each part? Format of a personal letter. A. Heading (Writer’s address and the date) B. Opening ( Dear , ) C. Body of the letter D. Closing (Your friend/ Regard / Love / ) 2. Knowledge formation activity: Teacher’s and students’ activities Content a. Act. 1: 1. Pre-writing : Aim: Introduce how to write the paragraph.(10 Outline minutes) - Teacher sets the scene : Imagine you are visiting - First paragraph : Say when you arrived and who met your relatives or friends in another part of Viet Nam or you at the bus / train station / airport in a different country. Write a letter to your family. - Teacher asks students to answer the following - Second paragraph : Talk about : questions. + what you’ve done 1. When did you arrive in ? + places you’ve visited 2. Who did you meet ? + people you’ve met 3. What have you done ? + food you’ve tried a. What places have you visited ? + things you’ve bought b. Who have you met ? c. What kinds of food have you tried ? - Third paragraph : d. What did you buy ? + tell how you fell (happy / disappointed ) 4. How do you feel now ? + say what interests you most ( people / places / 5. What do you think interest you most ? activities ) 6. When are you returning home ? + mention when you return home Conclusion: Understand and write. b. Act. 2: 2. The people here are so nice and friendly, the food are so delicious, and the sights are very beautiful. I will leave Da Nang at 3 am next Sunday and will arrive home at about 5 Conclusion: Understand and write. pm on Monday. Please pick me up at the bus station. c. Act. 3: 3. Post writing : Aim: Introduce to foreigner about Viet Nam. (10 Discussion minutes) Talk about your trip to another place in Viet Nam. -Students work in groups to talk about their trip to another place in Viet Nam. Conclusion: Know to write some famous places in Viet Nam. 3. Consolidation: Remind how to write the letter 4. Using knowledge (Option): Write the letter to your friends. 5. Further practice (Option): Prepare “ Unit 1 : A visit from a pen pal ( Language focus )” on pages 11 and 12. IV.EXPERIENCES: Week: 03 Period: 06 LESSON PLAN Unit 1 : A VISIT FROM A PEN PAL Part: Language Focus I. OBJECTIVES: 1. Knowledge, skills, attitude: -Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to review the past simple tense and practice in the past simple tense with wish. - Skills: Focus on speaking, reading, listening and writing skills. - Attitude: Getting and reviewing the past simple tense and practicing in the past simple tense with wish. 2.
