- II/ GRAMMAR 1. Adjectives of attitude (Tính từ chỉ thái độ) Some verbs+ ing = Adjectives Some verbs + ed = Adjectives Example: interest interesting interested
- Adjective ending – ING or - ED Mary has been doing the same job again and again for a long time. She doesn’t enjoy it. Mary’s job is boring. Mary is bored with her job. Rules : -Tính từ đuôi –Ving đưa ra nhận xét của ai đó về sự vật, hiện tượng, bản chất của người hay vật. Sử dụng trong câu chủ động. - Tính từ đuôi –ed chỉ ra cảm nhận của ai đó, ai đó chịu sự tác động của sự vật, hiện tượng. Sử dụng trong câu bị động
- Write the adjective forms of the verbs below. Example : fascinate fascinating Note:động từ kết thúc bằng “e” thì ta bỏ “e” rồi cộng thêm đuôi “-ing” Quyến rũ 1.fascinate 6. bore 2.excite Làm 7.surprise khiếp sợ 3.terrify Làm phát 8.amuse cáu 4.irritate 9.embarrass Làm thất 5.horrify 10.frustrate vọng
- Answers : 1.fascinate → fascinating 2. excite → exciting 3.terrify → terrifying 4.irritate → irritating 5. horrify → horrifying 6.bore → boring 7.surprise → surprising 8.amuse → amusing 9. embarrass → embarrassing 10. frustrate → frustrating
- Complete two sentences for each situation. Use an adjective ending –ing or –ed form of the verb in brackets to complete each sentence. Example : The movie wasn’t as good as we had expected ( disappoint) a. The movie was disappointing___ b. We were ___disappointed with the movie

- Rewrite the following sentences For example: The cinema did not become an industry until 1915 → It was not until 1915 that the cinema really became an industry
- 1.She didn’t become a teacher until 1990. →It was not until 1990 that she became a teacher. 2.He didn’t know how to swim until he was 30. → It was not until he was 30 that he knew how to swim. 3.They didn’t begin to learn English until 1980. →It was not until 1980 that they began to learn English. 4. The boy didn’t do his homework until his father came home. → It was not until his father came home that the boy did his homework. 5. The football match didn’t start until the lights were on. →It was not until the lights were on that the football match started.

- For lunch I had a sandwich and an apple. The sandwich wasn’t very nice but the apple is very delicious. Uses: - a/ an (“một” )dùng cho danh từ đếm được số ít. - a/ an được dùng khi danh từ được nhắc đến lần đầu tiên The được dùng cho danh từ xác định đã được nhắc đến trước đó. ( the dùng cho cả danh từ số ít và số nhiều, đếm được và không đếm được)
