1. Hello everyone ! I'm Nguyen Nguyen Khanh from class 5A. Wellcome to our presentation ! Today, I'm going to talk about Hoan Kiem Lake, Ha Noi.
2. Hoan Kiem Lake, also known as Guom Lake or (Sword Lake). It's one of the first places to see if you arrive Ha Noi. Too, is the heart of Hanoi, the capital city of Viet Nam.
3. Hoan Kiem Lake used to be called Luc Thuy Lake (or Green water lake) because the water was green all the year round.
4. The water color of Hoan Kiem Lake is not found in other lakes in Ha Noi, it's very special, right ? There are many types of flower and plant around the lake.
5. What coud not be missed in this place is the Turtle Tower. Which lines in the middle of the lake it reminds Vietnamese people about the great of the Golden Turtle.
6. Hoan Kiem Lake means: “ Lake of the returned sword”. This name is related to be famous historical legend of the King Le Thai To and how he returned the magic sword to the golden turtle God.
7. The back to the 15th century under Le dynasty to witness the legendary story. When King Le Loi visited his friend, he came across a metal bar in a fishing day.
8. The king asked for bar brought it home and shapened it into a sword. Suddenly, there were two words appearing on the sword “Thuan thien”. It means: being harmonious with the heaven, King Le Loi understood that the sword was a gift from the heaven.
9. He used it for the batles and after 10 year of struggling the king finally defeated the Chinese.
10. After that on one of his trip to Luc Thuy Lake there was a turtle rising above water and shouting: “ Please, return the sword to the Dragon King”.
11. The King relized that when his nation was independent the sword must be returned, so he threw the sword to the lake.
12. Hence, King Le Thai To to named the lake Ho Hoan Kiem.
